Introducing: The Wellness Family Practice

Dr Ryall Hamlyn and Dr Peter Iyavoo are well-known local general family practitioners who have been practicing on the North Coast for over twenty years. Due to increased demand specifically for a family focused general practice in the burgeoning Ballito area, we are excited to announce the opening of the new Wellness Family Practice. The aim of The Wellness Family Practice is to provide holistic and complete care for the whole family. The introduction of two female general practitioners has made this possible.

Dr Rosie Carey was part of a successful practice in Umhlanga for 11 years, but when the opportunity came up to practice closer to home at a family focused general practice that embodied her ethos of holistic and patient-centered care, she grabbed it. She has a special interest in women’s health, sports medicine, chronic fatigue syndrome and personalised lifestyle medicine. Living in the area, being part of the Ballito community, with children at a local school, she has the kind of knowledge that any good local general practitioner needs!

Dr Philippa Williams has joined the Wellness Family Practice from Pretoria. She brings expertise in aesthetic medicine and weight management, which adds a different and eagerly-anticipated dimension to the traditional family focused general practice. She is also qualified as a Geneway practitioner and offers personalised genetic testing to optimise disease prevention. Dr Williams is a mother of two and understands how to relate to children.

If you haven’t done so already, pop in and take a look around our newly revamped rooms (you don’t have to wait until you’re sick; our doors are open for you to come and say hello anytime!). We have aimed to furnish the rooms to make you feel comfortable when you visit us; we want your local general practitioner’s rooms to feel like a second home to you. Being specifically a family focused general practice, we have tried to avoid the clinical look and have replaced it with warm colours and soft furnishings which we hope will be soothing and take the stress out of your doctor’s appointment. We understand that it’s never nice coming to the doctor, but we want to make your experience the best that it possibly can be.

Our new facilities include:

  • 3 fully equipped consulting and examination rooms

  • A warm, child-friendly reception area

  • A state-of-the-art procedure room

  • A dedicated room for our intravenous vitamin therapy and face peels

  • A second reception area for people waiting for executive medicals, drips or aesthetic procedures

  • An executive medical room with stress ECG and lung function testing facilities

Our ethos at the Wellness Family Practice is clear: we are family focused general practitioners who aim to treat all of our patients holistically and with empathy and respect. We want our patients to become part of our larger ‘family’ and we aim to treat everyone we see with the same care with which we would treat our own family members. We are local general practitioners and we have local knowledge; we understand where you are coming from. We are excited for you to become part of our family!
